About Tomato ‘Honeycombe’ F1 (Solanum lycopersicum)

‘Honeycombe’ is a mid-early F1 hybrid cherry tomato with a flavour that is hard to forget. The orange fruits weigh about 15–20 g, grow in trusses and are juicy and very sweet, with a distinct honey aftertaste. They are also resistant to cracking, so the fruit stays neat on the truss.

This is a heavy cropper. One plant can produce 150 to 200 tomatoes, and the fruit on each truss ripens almost at the same time, so you can cut whole trusses instead of picking tomato by tomato. The growing period is about 75–80 days.

Where ‘Honeycombe’ Fits Best

‘Honeycombe’ is a tall variety, so I recommend it for an unheated greenhouse or a sunny spot outdoors, grown up a stake or string. It is not suited to countertop smart gardens or small containers, because the plant simply gets too big for them.

If you want a tomato for indoor growing under a light, our dwarf tomato seeds are the better choice. ‘Honeycombe’ is for those who have greenhouse or garden space and want a big harvest from our cherry tomato seeds.

Growing Tips

With 10 seeds in the packet, I sow each seed into its own small pot or cell in March or April and keep them warm and bright until they come up. Once the seedlings have a couple of true leaves, pot them on, and move them to the greenhouse or outdoors when the frosts are over.

Give every plant a sturdy support from the start and keep it in full sun. Water deeply rather than little and often, ideally in the morning. When a truss has turned orange, cut it whole and enjoy the tomatoes fresh.

How reviews work here: after an order is delivered we e-mail the buyer a personal review link; reviews sent that way are marked "Verified buyer". We publish every rating, high or low. We only remove a review if it contains links, personal data or abusive language (review rules). Buyers who review through our e-mail receive a discount code for free seed packs as thanks, whatever their rating; those reviews are marked. The star rating is the plain average of all published reviews, including marked ones. Reviews without the "Verified buyer" label were not checked against orders.
