LetPot systems need light periodic cleaning to prevent residue buildup, occasional pump filter care, and a deeper clean between growing cycles to remove minerals and organic matter.
LetPot’s official guidance recommends rinsing the water tank with clean water and avoiding detergents that could disrupt plant growth. If debris or mineral residue is visible inside the tank, a simple wipe with a soft, damp cloth helps keep the interior clean.
Over time, mineral deposits (from nutrients and dissolved salts) can form on surfaces and around the pump. These can be gently removed between crops with a rinse and, if needed, a mild cleaning solution that is plant-safe. Deep cleaning between harvests prevents buildup from interfering with water flow or nutrient uptake.
Safe cleaning between crop cycles:
- Unplug the system and remove plants or pods.
- Drain the water tank and rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Wipe the interior surfaces with a soft cloth to remove visible residues.
- For mild mineral buildup, a solution of clean water with a small amount of citric acid or food-safe descaler can help dissolve deposits — rinse thoroughly afterward with plain water.
- Avoid household detergents that may leave residues harmful to plants.
For the water pump, LetPot suggests checking and cleaning the small filter sponge after several months of use. Gently rinsing the sponge with water removes debris without chemicals, which helps maintain proper flow and reduces wear on the pump.
Why this works:
- Keeps water pathways clear of mineral and organic buildup
- Prevents pump strain from clogged filters
- Supports balanced nutrients and healthy plant roots
