How do indoor plants work? (edible plants only)

Edible indoor plants grow by using light, water, air, and nutrients in the same way outdoor food plants do. The main difference is that indoors these elements are provided in a controlled and predictable way.

Instead of relying on sunlight and rain, edible indoor plants receive light from windows or LED grow lights and are watered regularly by hand or through an indoor growing system. Nutrients come from soil or from water mixed with nutrients, depending on the growing method.

Because conditions indoors are stable, edible plants such as herbs and leafy greens can grow year-round, even in small spaces. This works best for plants that do not need deep roots or strong wind and weather to develop properly.

In real indoor use, edible plants grow best when light and watering stay consistent, since they cannot compensate for changes the way outdoor plants do.

Great little setup for veggies without all the hassle. You don’t have to be a gardener at all, the app makes it simple. If you’ve been thinking about starting but feel like you can’t, LePot makes it possible.
