About Dill ‘Goldkrone’ (Anethum graveolens)
‘Goldkrone’ is a high-yielding dill with dark green, feathery leaves, and it is the variety I reach for when the goal is plenty of fresh leaf. It forms its flower heads late and is slow to bolt, which gives you a longer stretch of leafy harvest before the plant turns its energy to flowering. It is easy to grow, it is not fussy about soil and it is especially good for cutting in bunches.
The leaves, stems and flower heads are all used fresh, and they can be dried too, although fresh dill has the better flavour. Fresh dill is also a good source of vitamin C, B vitamins and minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron.
Growing ‘Goldkrone’ Indoors and in Smart Gardens
‘Goldkrone’ can be grown all year round in pots, which makes it a good fit for a sunny windowsill or a smart garden with a grow light. Indoors I treat it as a leaf crop and cut it young and often, and the first leaves are ready about 45 days after sowing. Left to flower, the plant can shoot up to around 1.5 m, so regular cutting is what keeps it compact and productive.
Outdoors and in the greenhouse it is just as easy. A 5 g packet holds roughly 3,000 seeds, so there is plenty for repeat sowings through the whole season. You can find more varieties among our dill seeds.

Growing Tips
Dill does not like being moved, so sow it straight where it will grow, whether that is a pot, a smart garden pod or a garden bed. Keep the growing medium evenly moist and give the plants a bright, sunny spot.
For a steady supply, sow a small batch every couple of weeks instead of everything at once. Start cutting as soon as the plants are big enough to spare a few leaves, and keep cutting regularly so the plants stay bushy and leafy for longer.
